Why `Pimp` Is A Nickname Every Guy Wishes He Owned

We don`t make the rules, we just report the trends. `Pimp` is apparently IN. `Player` is OUT (out of the closet).

So what does it mean to be a "pimp"? Today`s pimp could be thought of as a "highly respected ladies man". Ten years ago you would not have seen an article titled "How To Be A Pimp". On the other hand, ten years ago you wouldn`t have seen a movie about two gay cowboys who fall in love and cheat on their wives by banging each other out on the range. Things change.


Pimp School

Now, if you want a lesson in Pimping "old school" just turn on any Starskey & Hutch rerun. You`ll find the character "Huggy Bear" pimpin in the alleys, making sure his "bitches" are working and that his drug dealers are not dipping into the product.

If you want to go "high class pimpin", put in the DVD "American Gigolo" and watch Richard Gere get pimped out to married and older women in LA. His "pimp" was also a black guy who dressed well and spoke funny just like Huggy but drove a better car.

These are the "pimps of old", and rarely are these guys looked up to today. They have been reduced in title from "pimp" to "hustler". The hustler is just that, someone hustling others for money.

So what happened to the word, `pimp`? It`s still around and now it`s a nametag every guy wishes he owned, even if it is only for a second.

Today being a pimp is something different entirely. Today the "royal order of pimpster" is made up of guys who have "made the grade" and put in the work by living it all the time. To be a pimp is to be a "Knight", one must fight many battles to be called a warrior and no knight has fought only one battle to be dubbed into the knighthood.

One conquest does not a warrior make, nor a pimp for pimp`s sake. The "pimp" or even "mack daddy" nicknames come out of others observation of them and rarely does the "real deal" give himself the title. The mack daddy pimpster is usually on display and has no problem with that.

He has stood with shoulders back and parted parties like the red sea merely when he walks in on his red carpet of superior confidence.


Cultivation & Captivation

What the pimp does to define himself and earn the favor of others is "captivate through cultivation".

Essentially what this means is he uses the presence of women to garner more women and favor. Favor could be: Entry into a private club, house bought drinks, exclusive party invitations. All these favors come from his ability to be the mack with hot chicks.

That is worth a lot to club, bar & restaurant owners and even party throwers. When people come to a bar or club or a party they want to see "pretty people" and "cool people" -- "hip people" walking around. As he frequents these establishments, he is building his reputation with brick and mortar, exposure & networking.

This is also how he gets more chicks. At these places both nominal and opulent he is seen as "the provider". Other women see him when he is: Dressed up - out with beautiful women - being embraced by many.

"That" attracts females! He does nothing but stand on display as he cultivates onlookers by captivating them with the "me" show. It sounds simple and it is simple because it is a formula.

He gets a girl by showing a girl, he gets attention by giving attention, and he acts like dating many is "normal". And the whole time, he knows he`s putting on the "pimp show". The way he keeps the women is simple also, it is seduction. He is patient filling the "hopper" with phone numbers; constantly keeping a supply of gals he can treat with "infatuation". He nurtures many of them slowly, often using the same lines and moves on very different women. That is how he keeps order and sanity, by making all of them ONE.

The fastest way to become a pimp is "clock in". You need to do many things, but the first fastest cheapest item is getting phone numbers. The more the better, you know why?

You must be a good lover to be a pimp. Women will not be part of your stable for even one party if you are lame in the sack. This is where ALL the clout of a pimp comes from. There can not be rogue hater ex-girlfriends of yours walking around dragging your name and small penis through the mud if you want to be a Mack Daddy.

Start striking out now so when your metamorphosis takes place you have already learned your way. Change your wardrobe as soon as possible. You don`t have to look like Huggy Bear but you should not dress like Bill Gates either. The pimp dresses with a style called: Casual chic.

Casual chic comes in two combinations, dressy & hip. "Hip" is jeans that look good on you (who cares about the name) and is comfortable. The shirt should flatter your figure NOT show it off. Not = don`t do. Don`t be too trendy, you want people admiring you not staring at you. The last component is "the trim". The trim is the watch & shoes. Pimp always has a "nice watch" and "cool shoes".

The other side is the dressy side. When Pimp dresses up - he lives beyond his means. Even if he is only making $9 an hour, somehow he shows up to the party in a wicked black Hugo Boss suit and Bernini button down shirt. This type of dress is the Knight`s shining armor because rarely when you are dressed to kill is a woman worried about your career choices in that moment.

Now you have numbers and a few good "lays" under your belt and some new clothes. One of the last components to pimpin` is advertise. Frequent certain establishments that have a reputation for female patrons. Go the same night a couple of weeks in a row and learn the bartenders name and tip him/her well. Bartenders, concierges, maitre des, are the best allies to the up and coming pimp.

In the previously stated text, we break it down: Get numbers (good lover), dress to impress, make the rounds like a politician, tip well and be the star walking the red carpet. Remember, you`re always on the red carpet.


Forget Me Not

What the pimp is not is a loud mouth over polished over coiffed ego maniac with premature ejaculation. Don`t be something you are not, be the best at each thing you are good at. Pimpin ain`t easy and nobody said it would be. And remember, no matter how big you get, there will always be a bigger pimp than you.
