Happy Days was one of my favorite television shows because no matter how hammy the comedy was, everyone was waiting for Fonzi to say, "Aaahhyyyyy"! He had undeniable status among his friends and enemies.
If you think about people in real life like Donald Trump you know their status came solely through wealth, immense wealth. Movie stars have what is called an "A" list. There is no written list: It is an unspoken industry list that creates the level of one's celebrity status. Families like the Sheens or Bridges in the business are referred to as Hollywood Royalty.
These actors, business men and even regular guys like us did not get to a higher status level by merely being rich or famous. They got there because they endured. You can almost say, PEOPLE BECOME ROYALTY THROUGH LOYALTY. This will be applicable to the establishments you frequent to the company you keep. Remember status can only be enjoyed if there are others around to produce it and give it.
Time Will Tell
The building of your status takes time and has to look as if it takes no energy. Kind of like when you want to work up the corporate ladder and not look like your suckin' sausage to get there. There is no room for braggarts and whiny wimps who need constant recognition. I once went to a restaurant at least once a month for over three years.
The owner buys my drinks all the time now. When he buys my drinks, everyone at the bar sees this and wonders, "Who is that guy". They think I must be important when I am merely a REGULAR. Being a regular takes time, but the preferential treatment is the payoff.
This is the same with the opposite sex and the art of seduction. To create an air of status around yourself, you must be patient with the process. People don't think you are important just because they saw the owner buy you drinks one time.
They will think you are important if they see the owner buy you drinks almost every time. That says something entirely different about you. This takes time because you must invest in these establishments, get-togethers, parties, functions and even local haunts to be seen by the ones you want some rhythm (attention) from.
Universal Remote
All this is applicable to whatever venue you are trying to extract praise from. If you are trying to get rhythm from coworkers and bosses the same theory applies as if you were a student trying to get rhythm from classmates. Your first priorities are PATIENCE & GENEROSITY.
By these two standards alone you will cultivate a following of people that respect your opinion and presence. Consider the alternative. If you are not a patient person you are probably an insecure prick who jumps the gun at everyone and always thinks they are right.
If you are not a generous person, either by your time or consideration then you are certainly not going to be on anyone's "A" list for the next super bowl party.
The two qualities I mentioned are universal in their APPEAL to others and appealing to others is how you maintain your status. You see there are reasons those two qualities work.
If you are a person who is generous with their manners and always puts others first (in public anyway) then that is how people will speak about you and if you are patient (something most are not) they will talk about your personality in a kind way. This is the same as high school really. You will either have a good reputation or a bad reputation just by word of mouth alone.
Model Citizen
Do you have it in you to be a model citizen? I don't, that is for sure. It takes a bit to maintain the superhero citizen status solely for the purpose of status. The truth is you might very well be a model citizen and you were just looking for the opportunity to capitalize on it.
I bet there are millions of great guys out there that have unbeatable patience and unlimited generosity wondering why they have not been discovered. The reason is that down deep, how much of a model citizen can you really be if status is a motive?
Status is about stroking the ego like a Himalayan cat. That big soft coat needs to be petted and on more than a regular basis. Your mane will feel well groomed from all the effort you have put in to being a model citizen.
We give status to people either we admire or to those who have achieved something that we could not. How great will it be when you achieve status for just being a cool person? That would be status worth working for.
So you don't have to be ultra wealthy or have a face that people recognize world wide. You just have to be a hustler without being a hustler. You have to be popular without having a reputation. You have to be in good with the guys and the girls equally.
If you want to be FIRST to everyone you must first put everyone else first. Nobody gives a shit about what car you drive unless you try to brag about what car you drive, then they want to make sure they don't like it. If you talk too much then everyone knows you don't walk the walk. Men who walk the walk have been walking it a long time and have no need to talk the talk.
Do you want status? Then you must ENDURE - become the guy that garners the attention of others by not asking for it. Walk the walk and walk it for a while so people can see you are worth their investment - their attention.
