It’s not too late to continue on with those New Year’s resolutions! Was one of them to unleash a sexier new you into the world with a hot new look? It’s time to take some action! Even though developing a new look to our personality, or dusting off an old one, is mostly a mental exercise, sometimes we need a little help from the right props to really get us going. Following are five items you should have in your wardrobe to make the most of your sex appeal:
A Great Red Lipstick
Yes, I know it’s been all about neutral highly glossed lips for sometime now, but if you want to ad sexy sophistication to one of your “going out” looks, you need to find the right red lipstick to add to your makeup wardrobe. No, just any old red won’t do. The right red lipstick for you depends on your own coloring. If you have a “cool” complexion with blue or pink undertones, than a cooler “blue” red will look the best on you, if however, you have a “warm” complexion a warmer tone, with brown, or orange tones in it will be best for you.
In order to create flawless red lips you’ll need a matching lip pencil, so that you can draw on the right lip line (evening out your lip line where needed) and then fill it in with your red lipstick for the sexiest drama.
One important thing to remember about wearing red lipstick is that it looks best with neutral eye shadow worn for definition and black eyeliner – think Marilyn Monroe and you’ve got it.
A Great Fitting Bra
I know it sounds simple, but most women wear ill-fitting bras that do very little for their figures. Is this you? Are you going about town (let alone on a date), with two of your best assets not being shown off at their best? The next time you go bra shopping, make the investment of going to a better department store such as Nordstrom, or Bloomingdale’s, and have a knowledgeable sales person measure you and help you find the right fit.
Comfortable, Slim Thong Panties
Panty lines just aren’t sexy, which is why thongs are great – but not just any thong. There are plenty of thongs out there that look sexy as anything, but they’re actually bulky and uncomfortable to wear. The great news is that you don’t have to spend a lot of money to find the perfect, comfortable thong. The Old Navy sells fantastic cotton low-rise thongs in three packs for only $6.00. Of course if you want to splurge there’s always Cosabella’s famous mesh thong for $16.00.
A Little Black Dress
Back in the 1920’s designer Coco Chanel created the first elegant little black dress that would be appropriate for just about any occasion, and it’s still a staple today. Whether you choose a thigh baring mini, or a more sedate (but no less sexy) wrap around, or any of the other myriad of dress styles out today, you need a little black dress that you can fall back on for special occasions – whether it’s a cocktail party, or a date with a special someone, so that you’ll feel perfectly dressed no matter what.
Thigh High Stockings
Nothing is sexier for men than the surprise of finding a pair of thigh-high stocking’s under a woman’s dress or skirt – whether they’re a “stay up” style, or held up with a garter belt. And with the Internet there have never been a better array of sexy styles to choose from than there are today! After doing a little research I found several wonderful styles I’d like to buy for myself at www.ThreeWishesLingerie.com in their “Stockings Etc.” category.
And What to Burn…
In the ancient Chinese art of Feng Shui, one is taught how to bring ones home environment into the proper balance for the optimum movement of “chi” or life force. Clutter (which I’m certainly guilty of) is a definite no no because it doesn’t allow the movement of “chi.”
Sound crazy? Fen Shui isn’t the only spiritual tradition that believes a well ordered home can bring you health, happiness and prosperity. In the metaphysical tradition it’s said, “the Universe hates a void.” In other words, if you want new and improved things to come into your life, you have to get rid of the old things that are weighing you down. So what’s in your wardrobe currently that’s keeping you from being your sexy best? Let’s take a look at what that might be:
Clothing you Haven’t Worn in Two Years
If you haven’t even thought about an item of clothing in two years, chances are you just aren’t going to wear it (unless it’s a special coat or ski wear). Either it’s uncomfortable, or the wrong size, or you just don’t like it. It doesn’t matter if it was an expensive gift; if you haven’t worn it in two years it’s time to give it to the Good Will and someone who will appreciate it more.
Stretched Out Bras and Panties
You know the ones I’m talking about, the elastic is almost gone, or showing, but you stick them in the back of your drawer for emergencies. Throw them out! Buy inexpensive black cotton underwear from The Gap, or Target for “that week of the month” and get better about washing your intimates out in the sink in between your laundry visits.
Items in an Unflattering Color For You
Some colors just don’t look good on everyone. If you want to look and feel your best you should never walk the door in a color that just doesn’t work for you. If you have several newer items that are perfectly good, but just wrong for you, you can take a tip from Trinny and Susannah of the original BBC version of “What Not to Wear” who suggest getting together with a group of girlfriends and “swapping” the pieces that don’t work for you anymore.
