“All wealth is the product of labor” – John Locke
Last week we begin laying a foundation for success in the dating world of high rolling men by working on the foundation of you with posture, grace and an appealing voice. They may seem like silly, old fashioned concepts in today’s fast paced, media hyped, over-the-top-sexy world, but I can’t stress enough how very important they are.
Bad posture and a lack of grace of movement can ruin the effect of even the most stunning face, body, and outfit, whereas beautiful posture and grace of movement makes even a simple, inexpensive outfit (and the woman wearing it) look great. Remember, everything about your appearance that shows great care or neglect reflects to a man (and the world) how you feel about yourself.
Looking Great Isn’t About Money
If you follow the antics of Paris Hilton, or avidly followed “Sex In The City”, you might think a girl can’t get a date with a sophisticated, fabulously eligible bachelor without an extensive, expensive, super sexy wardrobe complete with numerous pairs unbelievable pricey Jimmy Choo shoes. Not true. Unless a man is a complete snob (in which case you don’t want him anyway) he’s not about the labels and price tags of a woman’s attire. What catches a man’s interest, even a very sophisticated accomplished man, is the overall effect of how a woman presents herself.
In fact, let me say right here, that it’s a good idea NOT to take anything that Paris Hilton and her entourage as examples of the right way to date up. Paris had money to burn before she ever began making millions on T.V. She can dress and behave as outrageously as she wants to and get away for a long time to come because she’s very rich, very thin, and very young. Note how we’re getting tired of Courtney Love’s behavior. She’s been a bad girl too long.
Your Hands & Feet
One of the other surprising things men notice and care about (especially well groomed, well traveled men) is what a woman’s hands and feet look like. Men are especially fond of beautifully manicured feet. If you need to be wise with your money stick to “DIY”(Do It Yourself) manicures and pedicures, but make sure that you do them regularly. If you’re especially hard on your hands, or need to keep fingernails short for work paint your nails with a neutral color. Also, you may think a French manicure is a must for your fingers and toes, but they don’t usually hold up well (especially on your feet) and nothing looks worse than a chipped French manicure.
Your Teeth
Nothing is more dazzling than a beautiful smile. How are your teeth? Do they need some work? These days there are braces for adults that are almost invisible. If the shape your teeth are in make you self-conscious have them fixed. You deserve to show your best self to the world. Yes, it is an investment, but you’re not going to be catching the heart, mind and soul of men who have their pick of women if you’re afraid to smile. Also, these days there really isn’t an excuse for stained or yellowed teeth. There are a ton of great whitening tools you can use at home – and they work! I know. I use them regularly.
Dressing For Dating Success
The ultimate fantasy story “Pretty Woman” is an unrealistic fairy tale on almost every level; however, it makes a fantastic point in regards to how much of a difference the right attire can make. Julia Roberts polka dotted dress and hat are now a slice of history, but the fact that by changing her wardrobe (and learning the right table manners) she could move from being a streetwalker to fitting in at a polo match aren’t far fetched. You too can easily move among the highest levels of society by knowing what to wear:
Build On The Classics
Today’s fashions are full of funky, fun, silhouettes in bright colors, however, they don’t have legs. By that I mean the little frilly ruffle mini skirt you love so much for going out dancing (and might get you into the club without waiting in line) probably won’t be hip next summer. To create a wardrobe that will take you from dinner at the nicest restaurants in town to grand charity bashes choose more classic silhouettes in solid colors that flatter your figure. Don’t, however, choose frumpy pieces. You want to look classy and timeless, not like you’ve raided your mother’s closet.
Splurge On Your Accessories
In this you want to dress like a European. Pinch every penny you can on your clothing (but make sure it’s well made and flattering on you). Wait for sales, shop at discount places; buy off season, or at your favorite chain that makes stylish clothes for great prices, so that you can invest more in having the latest accessories such as shoes, handbags, and watches from hot labels.
If your budget is quite limited you can still find great fashionable shoes, handbags and scarves and then you can splurge on a killer watch. Or ask for friends or family members to go together and get you exactly what you want for your birthday or other special holiday. Men, especially men of taste, notice watches.
Don’t Forget The Feminine
Every girl serious about moving up the dating ladder needs a little black cocktail dress and a few other dresses in pretty colors or patterns. Men love it when women show off their feminine side. If you’re a dyed in the wool pants girl then you’ve got to be true to your nature, however, you might consider a long lean pencil skirt in black, charcoal gray, or navy with a generous slit up the side (or back) to show off your sexier side.
