“If you’re wearing lingerie that makes you feel glamorous, you’re halfway there to turning heads.” – Elle Macpherson
I don’t know about you, but I actually like the whole “New Year’s Resolution” thing, especially if the goal is something sexy and fun like owning great new lingerie. And that’s exactly one of the top items on my list this year – so I was thrilled when SeductionInsider.com asked that I take a tour through the Victoria’s Secret website and share with our female readers my favorite lingerie choices, and thoughts on putting together a sexy lingerie collection that’ll show you off to your very best, and make you feel great while wearing it.
For some of you I’m going to be preaching to the choir, but for the others of you out there who don’t quite get why lingerie is so important for a woman’s sexual vibrancy I give you the quote above, and the following reasons below:
The Right Lingerie Makes the Most of your Figure
I have to channel What Not to Wear’s Stacy London here (for whom clothes that don’t fit properly are a big pet peeve) and mention the fact that far far too many women wear lingerie that doesn’t fit them properly, which makes everything else you where look less than its best on you as well. Every day I see examples of poorly fitting undergarments on women as I walk down the street. Why wear panties that show lumpy lines under your pants? Why wear bras that make your breasts look an odd shape?
Let’s be honest, once you’re a B cup or larger, we all know bra shopping just isn’t fun when you need to buy the “basics,” you know, those black, white, and nude bras that are plain enough to work well under t-shirts and sweaters, and make the most of what you’ve got. And then there’s nothing worse than finding a brand that works really well for you – only to have it disappear, or never be available in your size. That’s why I’m thrilled with the fact that Victoria’s Secret now carries so many different styles of smooth, seamless bras in varieties of absolutely no padding, to the kind that gives you killer cleavage.
One of my new favorite bras is from the Victoria’s Secret “Secret Pink” collection. It’s the classic t-shirt bra, with just a slight bit of padding (for those of us who don’t like to show off our nipples to the public) for a great shape that makes the most of what you’ve got. It comes in pink, fuchsia, buff, white and black there’s the right colors to cover the basics.

The test of truly great underwear is whether or not it makes your tush look great in clothing without announcing its there. For this, of course, thongs are perfect, and for years the Cosabella stretch mesh thong was my absolute favorite, but now Victoria’s Secret has such a wonderful collection (including low rise thongs for low rise pants – yes, the whole showing your thong above your pants line is out!) I highly recommend ladies take the plunge and see what all the fuss is about. From the smoothest smooth Body by Victoria low-rise thongs, to really hot little numbers like the Bow Brooch V-String Victoria’s Secret has thongs covered.

Now I know that no matter how fabulous it is that thongs don’t show under your clothes and ruin the line of what you’re wearing, some women just won’t wear them. Not to worry. There are still great panties out there that won’t show under your clothes and make sure that all that’s showing off is you! In fact, Victoria’s Secret now has a whole line of No Show Panties with both bikinis and high rise legs just for you.
Okay, so now that we’ve got the basics covered, and I’ve reminded you that your basic every day under things are all about showing off you at your best, and not about announcing themselves to the world, I would feel remiss if I didn’t remind you that no matter how much a guy doesn’t notice what you’re wearing on the date, he’ll notice favorably if your bra and panties match once you’re getting down and dirty – or unfavorably if they don’t.
Now to Make Him Drool
Word on the fashion street is that the 70’s revival is going to cool down and the next big thing will be a throw back to the ‘80’s. No, it won’t be exactly the 80’s some of us are still trying to get over (with horrible teased overdone hair). Slowly, but surely, the designers will start to bring back the best of the era that ushered in such fabulous trends as designer wear for men (who can forget Richard Gear wearing Armani in American Gigolo!), and fantastic structured suits and skirts for women? And speaking of skirts, let’s talk about the kind of lingerie that will really make men flip their lids – yes, it’s time to talk about garter belts and stockings. The great thing about the more structured skirts that will be coming in with the 80’s flashbacks (or any vintage pieces you may have already) is that you can wear a garter belt and stockings and its your own little secret, well yours, and the man you decide to share this thrill with.
There’s no more powerful feeling in the world than being well dressed, perhaps a bit conservatively for work, knowing all the while (with a secret smile on your face) that under your buttoned down attire you’re wearing the sort of lingerie that will make a man swoon. Now that is power.
If you’re new to the whole “garter belt and stockings” thing, not to worry! Victoria’s Secret has you covered there as well. They’ve created great sexy looks without the heavy, stiffness of classic garter belts in the past. Two of my very favorites are the Very Sexyline’s Embroidered Garter Skirt with Thong…

And the “Very Sexy” line’s lace & mesh garter belt that has a matching bra, and sexy little Tanga to go with it (remember guys love the whole matching thing…). Never heard of a Tanga? The Tanga is a very sexy pair of panties (perhaps first made popular in Brazil) that laves the bottom half of your tush showing – leaving very little to the imagination!

Hot New Trends
In closing this lovely escapade through some of my favorite Victoria’s Secret lingerie for early 2006 I have to share with you another trend that’s a throw-back from the 80’s, and that’s the whole “asymmetrical” thing. When it’s done right, like with the new Very Sexy lines asymmetrical V-string with matching bra it’s really really hot!
